Action Movie - Fight Tutorials

Tutorials 
The Tutorials that we looked up were mostly fight scene tutorials and how to make the scene look good. We looked up basic punching tutorials in film and it came up with a lot of tutorials but the ones that really stood and helped us out was a channel called Indie Action Movie Tutorials, they show how to do all of the punching and explain in good detail, they also make it very useful because they make it simple so that it is easy to practice. We also looked up other tutorials for example "How to make fight scene shots look good" It came up with selling hits on camera which shows good shots for the fighting scene. They show good shots and explain how and why they are used.

When we come to do our fight scene we will have more knowledge on how to make the punch look real without actually punching the person, because real punching wouldn't look as good and more unrealistic then a fake punch. On the tutorial it tells us to punch in front of the persons face and they have to react like they have just being punched, by doing this it makes look like they have been hit really hard and gives the audience the perspective that the person who has been hit so hard that he has been knocked to the ground. Also it makes it look like the guys can take a hit because the way that they hit the person makes it look so powerful that it would knock them out on the first hit but it doesn't.

28 Weeks later Opening scene Analysis

28 weeks Later

28 Weeks later is a horror film which is based in a zombie apocalypse in the UK. They are sent to a containment building in London so that they are safe, accept there is a person who carries the virus and she infects the person which then cause the zombie apocalypse to break out again.

Character

The character that are in the building are survivors of the zombie apocalypse. You can tell this by looking at the conditions of the environment they are in like. They are in a old wooden house which isn't very stable and can be broken very easy. The clothes that they are wearing are really old and ragged so it looks like they have been in the house for a long time, you can also tell that they have been in the house for while because if you look at there clothes they are really dirty and old. Also if you look at the food they eat it is pasta which can last for a long time, so the audience knows that they have been in the house for a long time. The man who opens the door looks like the leader of the group, and he knows what he is doing. This also tells the audience that he knows how to get out of difficult situations such as a zombie attack, he can also be shown as a character who is strong and brave and knows how to protect his family if needed.. There us also the two children which could be the son and daughter of the man. They are represented as weak because they can't do anything to dangerous when it comes to a zombie attack. An example of this is shown when the boy goes into the women arms when he is let in, this shows that he is scared of going outside and dying. The audience can also tell that they are all in a group and people that stay in a group are usually the ones that  survive because they have bigger numbers. However that mean that food and water is going to be more difficult to share out. This could also be an indication that they are not happy with the group and would rather go on their own and survive.

Camera Angle

There are a lot of camera angles used in the opening scene. One type of shot which is used a close up shot. This is used to let the audience know how the character reacts to situations and also to try and get to know them better. One example of this shot is when the man opens the door up to the boy, they used this to show how the man feels in the situation and you can tell that he feels scared of opening the door because they don't know what it is. The audience is then supposed to be worried because they see that he is worried and that is supposed to make the audience feel nervous. Another example of when a close up shot is used is when the boy is pulled into the house and then bumps into the woman. This then shows the expressions of the face and how they are feeling. In this case it shows the boy as relieved that he i know out of danger and inside the house. Another shot type that is used is a high angle shot.to show all of the family or group sitting at the desk, it is used to show a different perspective of when they are setting up the desk just so the other shot doesn't look very long. Another type of shot that is used is an over the shoulder shot for when the man is opening the door and the woman is looking at him, this is used to make the shot look fast paced in the situation they are in. It gives the effect that they are panicking and they are in a rush to see what is happening at the time.

Props/Costumes
The clothes that they are wearing are really old and ragged so it looks like they have been in the house for a long time, you can also tell that they have been in the house for while because if you look at there clothes they are really dirty and old. Also if you look at the food they eat it is pasta which can last for a long time, so the audience knows that they have been in the house for a long time. Also they are using candles to light up the house so it shows that they have know electricity and are stranded inside the house. You can also tell that they have.t seen sunlight for a ling time because when they open the door and the sunlight comes in they are blinded for a second this is because they have been in the dark for too long and are not used to seeing sunlight so that gives a good affect that they have to be kept inside for a long time.

Action Movie - Sound

Sound

The sound which is in action films is very loud for examples explosions, gunfire, punch and shouting. This is mainly because it is the fighting which uses it so that it makes it look better. 

In martial art films they mostly uses hand to hand combat and to make it look good they need to add some sound affects. What they would use are different punching sounds and impact sounds. This makes it sound more realistic and doesn't make it boring for the audience to watch. 

Gunfire sound would make the scene sound more exciting and realistic for the scene.When someone is firing a gun the audience is expected to get adrenaline from the gunfire this is a sound which is definitely needed if guns are involved in a film.

Explosions - There are many different types of explosion sounds which are in  action movies, for example car explosions, petrol station explosions, explosions from missiles. Shots being fired from a helicopter. This all affects the scene and film because if the explosions sound the same then it will get repetitive and will become a bit boring. This will also make it more exciting for the audience to experience and would give them adrenaline.

Shouting - Shouting in an action movies is needed to make it seem more intense for the audience. For example if soldiers are in a middle of a battlefield to make the scene look more intense and realistic for the audience.

Opening Credits - Action Movie

Opening Credits

The way that we are going to introduce the opening credits are that when we start off the film and do the introduction, the names are going to show up at the bottom of the screen. This will show all of our names at the bottom and will let the audience know who is playing who. This also  used in many famous action films for example Kill Bill. This is shown when she is in the bed and is struggling to breath, it then shows who helped make the film for example the martial art adviser Yeun Wo-Ping this will then give credit to the person and people will then know his name. Also the actors names are shown at the beginning and  are said which character they are playing, which is a good way to introduce the characters. Also it is a good example of the an action film introduction because they let the audience see what happens at the beginning and how it turns out later on, which is good to keep the audience looking forward to the next part, kind of like a cliff hanger.

Action film - Opening titles

Opening Titles

The opening title for an action film are usually very bold and stand out. A good example of a action title is The expendables. The Expendables title is very bold and stands out, this is used to show that there is going to be a lot of action in the film. Also the title looks like it is made out of metal, this shows manliness and strength this will make the target audience think that this will have tonnes of action in it.

The Die Hard 2 title is very bold as well, it stands to the audience because of the color of the words. The dark blue represents cold just like the people are in the actual film to the main protagonist.  It is big and bold because they want to make the audience feel like they are trying to make the film look big and explosive, so that it stands out to people.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title is a very good example for a action movie title. You can tell because of the color, the font and the size. The color represents the what the characters are like, they are green, giant turtles so represents it very good. The font size is Asian style in someway because the "T" and the "S" have a sword spike at the end to make it look more like a katana sword. The size of the  title shows that they are bigger then the usual size of a turtle, this shows that they are mutants and not any normal turtles.

Our own title will be a very bold font so that it will stand to the audience and give them the feeling that it is powerful like a soldier. We want it to make it stand out so that it looks more dangerous like there is going to be danger and like you are close to death. Also we want the title of the film to sound like it is dangerous and meaningful, like it has a story to tell for example "Revenge" tells you a short story that someone is going to get revenge and kill someone. The background color would be most likely to be black because then the title will stand out to the audience more.  

Action Movie - Audience

Audience

For the action target audience it would mostly be men from the age 16 - 40 because males who are teenagers love a good adrenaline burst so that they can feel hyped about the movie. This is used because when you are grow up you can get the adrenaline and it makes the audience feel like they can do anything. Action movies attract males as it is stereotypical for men to be attracted to violence films.  There would be different types of races that watch action moves only because it is one of the most watched and biggest out of all of the genres.

Jason Statham is a good example for action movies this is because he is a the stereotypical man who is strong and seems like he doesn't want to be messed with. This would make male audiences want to watch because he knows how to fight and most males like violence because it gets their blood pumping and gives them  adrenaline.

Things that would attract the action audience would be helicopters explosions, hand to hand combat, gunfights, adrenaline bursts and a main character who portrays a action hero very good.

In our movie we are trying to include hand to hand combat to make the film  seem like it has more action in it and gives the audience more adrenaline  for when they are watching. Also we will make it seem like we are in the mafia so that we can make the audience think that we are going to make it so that there is a good chance that the audience will think that there is going to be a lot of fight scenes and action.

Research and Planning Targets

You have got a lot of work to evidence to show how your film has been planned and is coming to be. Share responsbilities between your group and make sure that everything is uploaded by the end of term. Revisit your past posts and think about where you can add some theoretical comments - think about camera, representation, mise-en-scene, editing and camera composition.
